Rental rates and charges

There is a 7 day minimum rental, the day of pick up and drop off are included in the rental period regardless of pick up and drop off time. One-way hires are a min of 7 days and there is a Minimum one-way charge of $100 which applies subject to drop of location, some locations are more expensive.

Late pick up or early return of vehicle does not entitle the hirer to a refund of the proportion of the rental hire. Late returns will be charged on a day by day basis at double the normal rate. A $120 fee will be applied if prior authorisation for the rental extension has not been requested, Approval is subject to availability. We reserve the right to report all late returns not authorised as stolen and to press charges, fees and charges will apply. All extensions must be payed by credit card over the phone to confirm the rental extension.

Pick up times

Pick up and drop off times are as per our web site and may vary without warning, times vary per location. There are fees for pick up and drop off on Sunday and all Public Holidays. All Offices are closed Christmas Day (25 December), Boxing Day (26 December), New Years day (1st January), Good Friday and all Public holidays in every state, Check website for details. There will be no refund for late pickup or early return.

Change of location to drop van

For a customer to change the drop off location after the rental has been booked Authorisation must first be obtained and a fee of AUD $500 may apply, exclusions maybe given at the discretion of the company please check.


Vehicles must be collected from branches. Transfers to and from Viva campers depot are not included in the price. A $50 fee applies for airport pick up or drop off in Adelaide conditions apply.

Cost for lost items

All items lost or stolen will be charged at the price quoted on the website on the day of loss please check the web site It is the hirers responsablity to notify viva campers of any damage prior to drop off.

Rent again

Come back again and you can have 10% off your next hire proof of previous hire will be required

Travel Restrictions

Out Back fee

There is a $200 outback fee to take any campervan into the outback failure to inform vivacampers that you are taking a van into the outback will result in your insurance being invalid. See website for map loaction

Two Wheel drive Vehicles

Can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads not including Dirt and Gravel roads or poorly maintained roads less than 500 meters long to a recognised campground.

4 wheel dive Vehicles

Can also be driven on recognized unsealed roads but must not travel to the following remote areas without the express written permission of Viva campers.

Simpson Desert, Strzelecki Track, Gunbarrel Highway, Cape York, The Bungle Bungles, Oodnadatta Track, Birdsville Track, Tanami Track, The plenty Highway, Gibb River Road, Skippers Road, Niney Mile beach, Bluffs Road that runs between Kuantunu and Mataurangi and North Colville Township, Any Island except Kangaroo Island, Tasmania, Warburton Road, Cape Leveque, No Vehicle is permitted on the last two kilometres of the Lennard Road, George road, Canning stock route, The lost city in Litchfield Park, the telegraph road to cape York.

No vehicles are to be taken into salt water or on a beach.

4WD Vehicles can be taken on some unsealed roads but terms and conditions apply. Subject to the times of the year and road conditions. Check with head office for further details.

Drivers Age

An open licence is required by all Australian residence and held for at least 1 year and current motor vehicle driver’s licence is required to operate the vehicle. All drivers must be over 21 years old. This must be produced on pick up of the vehicle and must be valid for at least 6 months and the term of the contract. Details of this licence will be taken as a condition of the contract. The licence must be in English or a foreign licence must be accompanied by an international drivers licence.

The following persons must not drive the Vehicle

  • Any person who is not identified on the rental agreement
  • Any probationary driver or learners permit holder
  • Any person who has been suspended or cancelled to drive
  • Any person who is under the influence of legal or illicit drugs
  • Any person whose blood alcohol concentration exceeds the legal limit

All insurance is a condition of the above and will be void if these terms are breached

Infringements and fines

The hirer is liable for all fines and penalties in relation to the driver’s use of the vehicle these include any Speeding, Parking, tollway fines and associated costs and or accidents including third party property damage not reported on the return of the vehicle. All fees will be charged to the hirer plus a AUD $75admin fee.


Viva Campers reserves the right to refuse any rental at our discretion

You void your insurance and will be liable if you

a. Drink and drive
b. Take drugs and drive
c. Drive on prohibited roads
d. Immerse the vehicle in salt water or drive on the beach
e. Damage done to the overhead or under belly of the vehicle.
f. Damage the vehicle by driving in a careless, wilful or reckless manner.
g. Over heat the vehicle or fail to stop if the motor becomes hot.
h. Fail to check and maintain all fluid levels in the van.


No Animals are permitted in Viva Campers, Excluding registered Guide dogs and they are not allowed to drive.

Voluntary Downgrade

Viva Campers reserves the right to refund money if a customer decides to takes a lesser vehicle.

Upgrade and onselling of bookings

Viva Campers reserves the rights to give the client a better vehicle if the one they have booked is not avaliable. We also reserve the right to on sell the booking to another company to supply a similar or better campervan

Baby Seats

Baby seats are not available in Viva campervans. and should not be used. Except the family 5 which can carry a baby seat


A deposit of up to AUD 25% is due at the time of your booking. The balance is due 7 days prior to pick up of the vehicle . If the balance is not received 7 days prior to pick up Viva Campers reserves the right to treat the booking as a cancellation and no refund of the deposit will be given. Bond will be taken at the time of the final payment and returned within 14 days of return of the vehicle.


Cancellation fees are subject to Viva Campers discretion, the following fees will other wise apply

If Cancelled over 30 days prior to pick up date the full deposit will be refunded.

If cancelled within 7 – 29 days of the pick up date 50% of the deposit will be refunded.

If Cancelled 1 – 6 days prior to the pick up date no refund of deposit.

If cancelled on the pick up day or a no show. No Refund will be given. If booked through an agent all agents fees will be forfeited. If a vehicle is returned early for any reason what so ever there is no refund available for unused days.

Protect yourself

In Australia Personal injury is covered in most cases through registration Third Party Insurance. But we at Viva Campers highly recommend that you take out Travel Insurance. Viva Campers does not accept any liability for personal injuries sustained during the rental.

Vehicle Title

The customer must acknowledge that Viva Campers retains the title of the vehicle at all time. The customer shall not agree, attempt, offer or attempt to sell, assign, sub-let, lend, pledge, mortgage on the hire or otherwise part with or attempt to part with the personal Possession of or part of the deal with the vehicle.

Road side assistance

Viva Campers has 24 hr road side assistance, But all problems associated with the vehicle, including any equipment failure, must be reported to Viva campers within 24 hrs. This will give Viva campers the opportunity to rectify the problem. Failure to do so may compromise any claim for compensation, Viva campers also reserves the right not to accept any liability for any claims submitted after this period.

Repairs and Maintenance

a. Viva Campers are totally maintained and serviced. However we recognise that breakdowns and small problems can happen. You may make minor repairs up to $50 which you will be reimbursed upon supplying a receipt for the repairs on completion of the rental.

b. Should larger problems happen please contact the 24hr road side assistance or our head office 0437 459 119. Call out fees may apply for human error, Such as Lights left on, Lock outs, any damage caused by negligence or use in prohibited areas. Fees for towing and recover may apply.

c. It is your responsibility to maintain the oil and water levels, by checking and maintaining the levels are full at all times. We recommend that you do this when the vehicles engine is cold or when you refuel. The hirer is responsible if the warning indicators for temperature, Oil levels, Alternator or any other indicator is ignored.

d. No alternative accommodation or food items will be paid for during any breakdown or malfunction. Things like Radio/Cassette/ CD players, stoves or grills, Air-conditioning or any other equipment supplied will not be considered as a mechanical breakdown.

e. It is Viva campers responsibility to retrieve the vehicle to the closest Viva campers depot at out cost. But it is your responsibility to make your own way there at your own cost to collect a replacement vehicle.

f. In all cases the responsibility of Viva campers is limited to refunding for the downtime that the vehicle is in the repair shop.

g. Any Refund will be calculated and the down time reimbursed at the end of the contract. Down time will be calculated in hours not in days, and will be credited to your credit card.

No of People

The vehicles can only carry as many passengers as per seat belts fitted. It is illegal and unsafe to travel in the rear of the vehicle if a seat belt is not fitted. Only the resisted drivers can drive Viva campers.

Exchange rates / Currency Variation

All credit card variations are conducted in Australian Dollars (AUD) Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variance in the refund compared to the initial fee charged. Viva campers do not accept any liability for variations up or down. Refunds by credit card can take up to 15 working days depending on the renter’s financial institution.


For safety reasons smoking is not permitted in the rear of the vehicle.

Bring it back clean

Bring it back clean or fee of up to AUD $200 fee will apply. this includes washing the outside of the vehicle, cleaning inside, washing all dishes, and washing the linen if used.

Night time driving

It is not recommended to drive Viva Campers at night unless inside city limits. It strictly forbidden and will void your insurance to drive at night or 1 hour prior to sun up or sun set. Most animals in Australia are nocturnal and there is an elevated chance of an accident. Due to the large distances many people fall asleep and have accidents. If you do encounter an animal on the road please don’t swerve just brake as firmly as you can it is better to hit the animal and cause a small amount of damage than to swerve and hit a tree or to roll the vehicle over. By just braking rather than swerving you have a lot better chance of not getting hurt.

Personal or company cheques

Personnel and company cheques will not be accepted at the time of pick up. These must be presented to Viva campers 14 days prior to the commencement of the hire period.

Calculation errors

Viva campers will not honour calculation errors. Should an error unfortunately occur Viva campers will charge for the short fall.

Change of Vehicle

Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforseen circumstances, Viva campers reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification at any extra cost. This shall not be seen as a constituting a breach of contract, and does not entitle the hire to a refund.

Gas Bottle

TheGas bottle supplyed is concidered empty upon pick up and must be returned empty at the end of the hire. If there is any gas left in the bottle Viva Campers will donate it to the next hirer No refund will be given for unused gas.


Fuel tank will be empty upon pick up and must be returned with enough fuel to start the van. If there is any fuel left in the van Viva campers will donate it to the next hire. No refund will be given for unused fuel.

Tyre and windscreen Damage

The hires insurance policy has an excess the renter is responsible for the damage to tyres and windscreens. Tyres are at the min cost of $150 each and winscreen at a min cost of $250


Viva campers assume no liability for valuables left or stolen from a vehicle. Please take care when leaving personnel or Viva camper’s property unattended.


The hirer is responsible for the cost of replacing keys and locks which are broken or lost and the cost of retrieval of keys locked in a vehicle. The cost of the lock smith travelling to the vehicle is the renter’s responsibility.

Admin Fee and taxes

All prices include 10%GST (Government Services tax) A surcharge of 3% of the total cost will be levied to cover all state and government charges, Duties, Vehicle registration, recovery and Administration costs. A 1.5% Credit card fee applies to all bookings. Viva Campers reserves the right to alter the fee upon Government intervention.
